Peridot is the birthstone for August.
The largest cut peridot olivine is a 310 carat (62 g) specimen in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. They are reportedly the only gemstone that is found in meteorites. Because there isn’t any known treatment that is used to enhance color or clarity of Peridot it is always concidered untreated.
